Part 3: Dominating Keywords - Longtail Sniper Guide

Welcome to Part 3 of the Longtail Sniper Guide. If you have no idea what this is, then go here.

Finding profitable keywords is hard work no matter how you spin it, so when you find a killer keyword(s), MILK it! I can’t stress how important this is. The $110,000 amount comes from finding one keyword that seemed to have potential (bringing in some bucks), and then dominating the keyword and related keywords.

There are two ways to do this:

  1. Dominate the top 10. You can make two mini sites on the same keyword on the exact same platform. You’ll have to change the URL by adding a letter, but that’s all (make sure each site has unique content). You can also use different web publishing sites to fill up the top 10. You’d be surprised how many times being at #1 for a search term is also losing you out on lots of money. Think of all the people who may visit the #1 site and then keep going to see if there is anything else. Also you can use the same fundamentals and use any online blogging platform or article directory. The sky is the limit.
  2. Dominate the niche. There are probably other keywords out there. Check your Google Analytics reports to see if you’re getting traffic from other keywords (check how you rank and see if you can get higher in those). Revisit your keyword research to find similar keywords. If one works, many will work as well.

Pay Per Click

This has to be one of the more beautiful parts of the Longtail Sniper Guide strategy. You’re essentially creating HIGHLY targetted landing pages for keywords. Since Google Adwords has implemented very annoying Quality Scores that mimic how they rank websites in the natural results, you already will get "Great" quality scores when paying for traffic.

However, I do warn you that Pay Per Click is an entire different game. I won’t go into it in this guide. However, I will write about this later, so I recommend you subscribe to my RSS feed.

Direct Users to Own Website

Since online web publishing sites limit you in the amount of flexibility you have, you should highly consider creating your own site/land pages on your own domain names. This way you have full control of the design and what you put on the page.

For example, you can send people to eBay using Build a Niche Store instead of just direct linking to eBay. It is known that you will get higher conversions by doing it this way.

Another advantage is you can use any type of javascript advertising system. You can freely use Google Adsense or anything else.

The major plus is that it has you start building your authority site which I talk about next.

Authority Sites

If you really want to be a longterm player in a niche, you need to start thinking bigger. I highly recommend you purchase a domain name, hosting and start building a high quality content site. With your own website on your own domain, you have much more control and you can build a reputation in your niche.

I won’t getting into the details in this guide (out of scope). The short of it is to start pointing your mini sites (should be PR 1 to 4 by now) to your new content site with it’s own domain. These will be powerful backlinks to help you stand out in search engines.

Down the line, authority sites are really what you should be focusing on. The mini sites are great for filling in the gaps in the search engines, but in the long term, you want something that won’t be as affected by the ups and downs of changing search engine algorithms.

You will also be able to pull off branding much better with a real domain name.

Keep in mind that this process takes a lot more patience and time. It’s better you gain confidence by making a few bucks first using the strategies I have just told you.

Like Pay Per Click, I will write about authority sites in my blog, so subscribe to my RSS feed.

Last Words

So there you have it, I have pretty much given you what it took me months to figure out. If you’re new to the scene, I don’t expect my guide to fully make you comfortable. However, I have given you enough information to get started. It is better to get started creating sites, than it is to read every money making blog out there for many good reasons. Definitely stay away from those scammy eBooks!

For those out there with experience, I hope you took out the bits of advice I have. Remember, everything I recommend comes from personal experience, so it isn’t just some theory I have that I never tested.

If you really stick with the strategy, you’ll start to get the hang of just ONE way to market to visitors. The most important take away from this guide is understanding keywords and how they make up the internet and search engines. This will build the foundation for everything.

The online scene is getting more competitive everyday with more people getting into it. The longtail approach in the Longtail Sniper Guide is now a must. Even in Pay Per Click, the top guys are creating landing pages that are specific to just one keyword.

If you’ve gotten this far in the guide, I highly recommend you take action now. I quit my job (extremely foolish for the reasons at the time) to find myself stuck at my parents with nothing. With just a bit of over confidence (not sure why I still had it), I was determined to make some short term income to get myself out of my parent’s house. With a bit of luck, hard work, and patience, I ended getting a lot more than I bargained for.

You can make the same happen to you.

I really appreciate your visit. This is the first draft of the guide, but I expect to update this continuously to increase the quality and keep up with the ever changing internet game. Be sure to subscribe to my blog to keep updated. I promise to keep the bullsh*t to a minimum.
